THE SUMMER BALL 17th July 2009

The members at Mijas Golf International held a Summer Ball in July at The Tamisa Golf Hotel.

It was combined with a Rather unusual mixed golf competition. Billed as THE MIJAS-TURNBERRY OPEN PRO-AM CHAMPIONSHIP, each player "chose" a partner who was one of the top prodessionals playing at Turnberry in the British Open.

The pair whit the lowest combined net score won the day. The compettion was held on friday 17th July and it was entirely fitting that the winners were Peter Kavanagh for Mijas ( one of the finest handicap golfers on the Costa del Sol )who was paired with Stewart Cink. Stewart, of course, went on to win the Open. You couldn't make it up, could you?

Caroline Butler won the best individual round by a lady, and the gents' award went to Franz Klein. The Presentation was held the next evening at The Tamisa Golf Hotel. Surely there is ne better venue for an outside event tha on the Terrace by the pool, looking out over Mijas Golf course to the mountains beyond. Just breathtaking! The hospitality, food and entertainment were, as usual. excellent, and everybody ate, drank and danced the nigth away.
